volunteer with the Amped Adelante Leadership initiative
Adelante is the Spanish word for “forward.” This forward-based initiative is a partnership with LSU Latinx Center and Humanities Amped where volunteers will help immigrant students in Tara High School classrooms during the school day.
We are looking for volunteers who can make a minimum 3-hour weekly commitment during school hours.
Humanities Amped will support the educator-volunteer matches through training, coaching, and a reflective learning community focused on helping volunteers contribute to student success through culturally-responsive and healing centered approaches. Through this process, volunteers will also improve their professional skills and self development in communication, critical-thinking, equity/inclusion, leadership, technology, and teamwork in a complex environment.
Qualifications: You do not need special qualifications to be part of this initiative, but you do need commitment, flexibility, a heart for service, and at least 3 hours a week that you can volunteer at a consistent time.
Training & Onboarding: You will need to complete onboarding paperwork including a background check, complete a mandated reporter and volunteer training, and attend reflection sessions and mandatory training.
